2 Acre Carp Lake

Le Salonnier Carp lake started life as two separate lakes, used by the previous owner for shooting wildfowl.

The original stock of the two lakes was unknown but there were lots of small wild carp, perch and wels catfish. The catfish went to over 60lb in both lakes.

In 2015 we took ownership of the two lakes and the grounds, the lake bed was very silty, the dam wall had several leaks and overall the lakes quite featureless from an anglers point of view.

In 2017 after a good year of planning we decided to completely start a fresh and attempt to turn the two lakes into a true carp fisherman's paradise.

Our plan was to remove the spit separating the two to make one larger lake, remove 3 ft of silt across the entire lake, build several swims and create lots of features for the carper to find. This involved draining the two lakes and removing all the old stock.

Once completed we then had a clean sheet regarding fish stocks.

Our first stocking included 40 carp from 17lb to 30lb.

Our second stocking a year later included 10 Grass Carp, 20 Black Bass, several sturgeon and 5 hand picked truly stunning Koi carp.

Since our first stocking we have run an extensive feeding program with only top grade coppens premium select pellet and top quality boilie. Growth rates have been good.

The home grown fish from our original bloodline are turning out to be carp from our dreams, big shoulders, apple peal scales, giant fins and whooping mouths. The are truly beautiful French carp.

The black bass have been great keeping the excess spawn down each summer.

Water quality & fish health has been a priority since day 1 so every night and year round the aerator comes in at set intervals to keep oxygen stable. This means that during any unpredicted storms or droughts we will always have a stable level.

Le Sablonnier is now a 2 Acre carp lake with a large island, deep holes, plateaus, deep margins and plenty of cleared and cleaned feeding patches with three swims with plenty of room  and electricity lakeside. All carp care kit including slings, matts, nets and polaris antisceptic supplied free of charge on every swim.

Please bear in mind that Le Sablonnier is not a specimen water by French means but we do hold an average stock of 29lb. This is a venue to bring your family along and enjoy the break as our family have done so for many years. The angling pressure has been low since the first stocking so you can expect a few sleepless nights with a few surprises.
